Everything you need to know before getting started. Can’t find your answer? Just get in touch.
Yes. Research consistently shows that online counselling is just as effective as face-to-face therapy for grief, bereavement and trauma support. Many people actually find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own home — a familiar, safe environment where they feel more relaxed and in control.
You just need a device with a camera and microphone (a smartphone, tablet or laptop works perfectly), a stable internet connection, and a private space where you won’t be disturbed. I use a secure, GDPR-compliant video platform — you’ll receive a link before each session.
Don’t worry — the platform I use is very simple and user-friendly. I’ll send you clear instructions before your first session, and we can do a quick tech check if needed. If you have any difficulties, please just get in touch.
Yes. Because all sessions are online, I can support people from anywhere in the UK. This is particularly helpful if you live in a rural area, have limited mobility, or simply prefer the convenience of accessing support from home.
The free 20-minute call is a relaxed, informal conversation. It’s a chance for you to ask any questions you have, tell me a little about what’s brought you to counselling, and for us to see if we feel like a good fit. There’s no commitment and no pressure — it’s simply a first conversation.
The first session is about getting to know each other. I’ll ask some questions about your background and what’s brought you to counselling, but there’s no fixed agenda. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We’ll also talk about what you’d like to get from our work together.
Generally, people find it beneficial to meet weekly at least at the beginning to build up the relationship and some momentum, however some people prefer more time between sessions to process what we have talked about or to make it more affordable. We can discuss what works for you in the free call or our first session.
No. You can book directly without a GP referral. If you’re also receiving support from your G.P or another healthcare professional, it will be helpful for me to be aware of this.
Sessions are booked and paid for securely online via Zanda, powered by Stripe. You can pay by credit or debit card. You’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details after booking
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged in full. I understand that life can be unpredictable — if something unexpected happens, please get in touch as soon as possible.
I aim to make counselling as accessible as possible. I offer a reduced fee for Emergency Services, Military and Students. Please get in touch to discuss your circumstances if cost is a barrier – I’ll do my best to help
Yes. Everything you share in our sessions is confidential. There are a small number of exceptions to this — for example, if I have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others — but I will always discuss these with you first wherever possible. I will explain the limits of confidentiality fully in our first session.
I take your privacy very seriously. I comply fully with UK GDPR. Your personal data is stored securely via Zanda, which is a GDPR-compliant practice management system. Please see my Privacy Policy for full details.
No – not without your consent, except in very limited circumstances as described above which is set in law. I do not share your information with your G.P, employer or anyone else without your explicit permission.
All professional counsellors and psychotherapists are required by The National Counselling Society to have regular supervision to support professional practice. However, all cases are discussed using a pseudonym and as no identifying details are used, your privacy would always be maintained.
I’m happy to answer any questions before you book. Just get in touch.
